The 1,000 Step Challenge reached out to us to launch their website for the first annual challenge. The event sees people experience what life is like for the 1 in 7 people with a disability in Canada by trying to walk under 1,000 steps a day for a week. The site launch was on a tight deadline, and se we worked with the BCAAFC to create the site from images we took in a full-day photoshoot with their team.
While most similar sites emphasize walking, as most want people to hit walking goals (such as 10,000 daily), this one was the opposite, trying to stay under a goal. For that reason, we didn’t want to only feature people walking. We worked with their communications director to find a balance, a colour scheme, and get the site ready. We also did some backend work to allow participants to entire their daily steps.
